Anchor Down-While others tune to the status quo of contrived clichés, fleeting trend, and ego, Portland’s Anchor Down sets their course left of the dial, where raw sincerity and uninhibited grit still holds worth. Independent in the truest sense, the quartet’s raucous, basement-bound, barbed hook anthems and down-to-earth demeanors have begun to captivate and convert audiences in both their own North Western territory and elsewhere. Anchor Down’s debut, Steel To Dust, is a must have for those who despite a multitude of tribulations, still believe in the catalyzing potential of contemporary punk rock.

Label affiliation: Solidarity Recordings, Suburban Home Records

On a mildly related note, I swear I was standing at the show Friday night and suddenly thought to myself, "OHHH, GingerVitus, I get it! HA!"

This is not acceptable.

Our last official show was OCT. 31 2009 in Gainesville FL. for FEST 8. We will not be doing any reunion shows or any of that garbage. If we play together again in the future it will be under a new title with new songs. Anchor Down officially ran it's course and we all feel it's best to leave it that way...

It's totally ok though...everyone is doing what they want to do and in many ways we had a really good run...we achieved the goals we set for Anchor Down to their fullest and now we all have new goals personally that need to be worked towards.

Lucas (Vocals, Guitar) will be focusing all of his efforts into a new band up here in Seattle called ~KNOW YOUR SAINTS~. We plan on putting out records and touring quite a bit.   www.myspace.com/knowyoursaints

Alex (Vocals, Guitar) is getting married in the new year and doing some singer/songwriter country influenced stuff under the name Alexander Hudjohn and will be doing shows from time to time.  www.myspace.com/burnfireburn

Matt (Bass) and his wife just gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Isla Mae Brown and I'm sure you will see him in a new project in the months to come as fatherhood duties ease a bit. Buy him a Bourbon...he likes those.

Chad (Drums) will most likely start something new in Portland in the future. We will keep you updated on everyone's status as new as new projects develop.

That being said...We still have some Merch left in our webstore that we are selling off cheap so if you never got a record or a T-shirt and you want one head over there before it's all gone   www.anchordown.bigcartel.com/.

Thanks to all of the friends we made, labels, awesome bands we were lucky enough to share the stage/floor with and thanks to anyone you supported Anchor Down and it's DIY punk policies and music, without all of you wonderful people we would have never been able to do anything as a band.

Cheers!
Your Northwestern Gentleman,

Anchor Down
Lucas, Alex, Matt, Chad

RIP AD!

One of my favorite bands in Portland, period.

Bummed, but glad new projects are on the way.

Pumped for the 7 inch with Know Your Saints.

Pumped for Alex to play at the Zombie House with Kevin Seconds, et al.

Stoked for Matt and lady and the baby.

Hope to see Chad doing something soon.

Thanks for the picture of Michael Jackson y'all!  It's still hanging up on the wall, even though Led broke the goddamn frame.  Fuckin hippy.

I'm super happy I got to play with Anchor Down three times, all at house shows: Mafia, Ranch, Zombie.  Twas good times.

Hopefully, there will be more!
