As I am sure you know, keeping this board up and running is not free. Not only was there a setup charge, there is a monthly charge. Although it is not much (in fact, it's less than the other website I run), it adds up. And, as we grow, we will need different hosting plans...there has already been several times we've reached our mass capacity in a month in terms of attachments and whatnot. So from now until Jan 5, I will be accepting donations to paypal to help keep the board alive. Please send them to nwpunkboard@gmail.com. All donations will be noted and kept in a ledger. And for donating, you will receive something "special" (not sure what yet, that will be determined over time). Donate as much or as little as you want. every dollar counts.

just go to your paypal.com account.
click send money.
enter in nwpunkboard@gmail.com in the email field and enter the amount in that field.
check services under the purchases tab.
click continue.

put in your address that you want the special item sent to (and it may be something really dumb) as your shipping address.
i will create a ledger in the technical aspects portion of the board!

mind giving us a ballpark amount of money it costs to keep this thing up? I'm asking in advance not because I think you're anything like the SPOAdminWhoMustNotBeNamed, but because I would honestly like to know how much money this actually costs, and it's always good to nip any sort of transparency issues in the bud before someone gets pissed off over something or another. you follow me?

$15/month as of now. will go up as we get more users. and i think setup was like $25, ill have to check on that.

I think $200-$250 a year is a good ballpark for right now. That being said, there are about 40 people who post regularly and use this for various reasons. $5 a piece and this place is paid for a year! We should also seriously consider doing a benefit show or two. That would more than likely pay for it in fun ways!

Lets make the show in the beginning of April a benefit show. We always get a pretty good draw in downtown P.O.! You know? LETS GO!

since i've been running sleestak for 13 years now (jeebus) i just put up an announcement about a month in advance with the total and a paypal address. If you donate then i edit the original post (i know edited posts dont count blah blah) and put up your username and amount if you want to (or remain anon). You'd be surprised how quickly you can get it taken care of especially with lurkers donating. Yes Virginia, even people that aren't registered will donate.

Most important thing is to be up front with the total costs.

Maybe tack on an extra hundred for some stickers.

We sorely need stickers.

A. That's not all you rub...

B. Stickers (B&W) are cheap (sticker guy or 123stickers.com)

C. lets make NWPB buttons and sell em for $ to support the costs of the board

D. Benefit shows are the easiest way to generate the money to support the board. Bake Sales and Lemonade stands are a thing of the past...

E. Is this thread all in light of Cameron being called out for name dropping?

I refuse to pay for more. I won't support his porn habits.

(but I will go to benefit shows and actually pay the door fee at funhouse, and cook for beer)

The hosting is pretty expensive at $13.99. I have 4 domains running at $4.99 total. Is it because it's a forum? Or just an expensive provider?

I may be wrong, but I think it's for bandwidth so we can all post pictures and movies and stuff.

It was one of the cheaper ones around for our purposes...cheaper than anything I've come across before, and directly recommended by Enoch (who runs PPMB)

Yeah, I didn't know about this either. I'd love to be able to pay someone local to make vinyl stickers instead of ordering them online.
